The Cure for Anything is Salt Water: Sweat, Tears or the Sea

Deep Indigo 20x20
Can Salt Water be a Cure? It Certainly has Healed Me.
"The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea."
That quote by Isak Dinesen rings truer than ever for me!

Water is both a creative and a destructive force in Nature, it can be ethereal and yet relentless.
As a surfer, I've always had a close relationship with the ocean and have had many hours of observing the waters of all the seven seas. As a painter, I have enjoyed the challenge of depicting the constantly changing qualities of water as a vital force of nature.
"Wall of Water" 40x40
In my wave paintings, water roars...it is ominous and intimidating.
In Aquamarine I & II, I let the water of a sheltered tropical sea inspire me: with that perfect temperature, little or no wind, shallow sand bottom and so perfectly clear. That blue: the kind that beckons, glows, resonates with a calm hum, inviting, soothing.
What I like to call Blue Water Bliss.
"Aquamarine I" 40x30
A thousand shades of blue and just as many brushstrokes came together in a journey through the creative and destructive processes of making art. My painting revealed its own shifting shapes and dancing light - like water, elusive and infinitely satisfying. Somehow, bringing to me that inner hum, resonance and calm, with some joy-filled giggles in between.
