The Rose Arbour

The Rose Arbour is one of the many striking paintings Caroline created during her summer residency at Graham Fine Art in London. At 60" by 40", it's a massive undertaking, full of exquisite detail.

Well what is it, "arbor" or "arbour"?

Good question. The Grammarist explanation is here. However the reason both words are used interchangeably on carolinezimmermann.com are more nuanced. The original painting seen above and in the video was created in London and exhibited briefly at Graham Fine Art before it was snatched up by a local Crouch Ender. So it was natural to use the British spelling and call it the "The Rose Arbour". Same with the video title. But then when we wanted to upload the video to carolinezimmermann.com after it had been on YouTube for some years, we needed to alter the title slightly so that the video would garner it's own SEO, and not compete with YouTube. We don't want people going to YouTube we want them coming here.

A quick Google search for both words showed: Arbor: 163,000,000 results. Arbour: 9,800,000 results. There you have it.

Arbor: noun
- a leafy, shady recess formed by tree branches, shrubs, etc.
- a latticework bower intertwined with climbing vines and flowers.
- Obsolete. a grass plot; lawn; garden; orchard.
