Hoedown at Hollister Ranch
Over 20 years ago I visited the Hollister Ranch for the first time. I was immediately captivated by the magic of this unspoiled stretch of California coastline north of Santa Barbara. Not just because of its pristine beauty, but for its incredible surf, with countless points, reefs and sandbars making it one of the most desirable surf destinations in California. Many of my paintings over the years have been inspired by the light and lay of the land...

For the last 15 years we have been fortunate to visit the Ranch on numerous occasions. When I was invited to participate in a fundraiser being held to restore some of the historic buildings on the Ranch, I thought it a fine idea to be able to give back some of the kindness shown to me by Ranch residents and to the Ranch itself for its endless inspiration.

The Hollister Hoedown is an annual event, organized by residents and volunteers. Most of the artists were local residents, and some, like myself, were sponsored to participate in the event.

It was a gorgeous summer Ranch Day, at every turn a beautiful composition with that Magical Ranch Light...

Several excellent local bands were invited to play, but the big treat was a long set by Ranch resident Jackson Browne...

...and guest appearance of Mr David Crosby!

Great fun was seeing Renzo run on the beach for the first time....
