Festival of Arts Façade 2011
It is really quite an honor: My work, along with the fabulous ceramic work of Marlo Bartels, has been selected by the Festival of Arts to grace their front entrance façade. The concept began last May, inspired by this year’s Pageant theme: Only Make Believe.
Board of Directors member Tom Lamb asked me if I would be interested in collaborating.

But of course!!! Tom Lamb has contributed so much to the Festival over the years. This “detail” was finally an opportunity for me to help out and collaborate with artist/colleague Marlo Bartels in a truly stunning opus.

Marlo in his studio: work/magic in progress. Tom had decided on two of my pieces to be reproduced in large format prints, now we had to decide on the frames. Marlo wished to echo the “Moorish” design themes, referring to the Arabian Nights in one of the Pageant’s scenes.

Back in my Laguna Canyon studio the real work begins...
(Sandra Jones Campbell and I have been studio mates for over 10 years now...and this one the best by far...
thank you Sandra!!!!!!)
In these types of projects, best to ask the creative genius of artist/surfer/shaper Mickey Muñoz and artist David Cooke.

Renzo made certain no details were overlooked...

Somehow, it all came together... finishing details and the installation begins....

Tom Lamb, Pat Sparkhul...and with the tireless help of John throughout all of this...
and my final touches...

This fountain by Marlo Bartels is truly magical... water will eventually trickle out of it... but a genie as well???!!!

WOW!

A fantastic beginning to Summer 2011!
